When I began to compose the content of my website, I took inspiration from a few big names in the children's wear industry, namely Jojo Maman Bebe and Mothercare.  I loved both of these sites for a few reasons, the tone of the content of these site and how each of these companies sell their brand as a club seemed attractive to me.

Jojo Maman Bebe have a page on their site called 'Our History', this page gives the customer an overview of their business, how it began and it's core values. The content of this page doesn't feel at all corporate but is more like a personal story being told.  I think the tone and content of this site is engaging for the customer as it gives a real sense of their beliefs behind the brand.

Mothercare has a similar tone to it's site, Mothercare doesn't feel corporate and attempts to convince the customer that it offers more than it's products.  There is a Mothercare reward club which offers customers discounts, vouchers together with parental tips and even medical advice through it's partnership with 'Babylon'. Mothercare attracts customers and rewards their loyalty when they sign up to their reward club.

My 'About Us' page is there to give the customers a real understanding of how the concept of Mini Steps was created.  I have adapted my tone to suit the audience of my site, I want customers to understand that I have experienced the same struggles in shopping for children's shoes.  Mini Steps has been created to help parents shop for shoes without the fuss of visiting the shop.  I want Mini Steps to be seen as a solution to their problems and not an area that is being exploited for commercial gain.

Clear product information is crucial for a successful e-commerce website. Mini Steps has 20 different products that belong to a wide range of categories and sub-categories. Each product has a fun and enticing product name, product description and product composition information. I believe customers need as much information about the product in order to have confidence in their purchases.

I have included reviews of products from customers which can be viewed from the shop pages, this will give customers more useful information about their intended purchases.  Reviews from customers can also highlight sizing or other product defects to the company owner, which can then be investigated. Reviews can be seen pictured below.


In order to create greater customer confidence in my products, I have included a Kids Size Chart which displays UK and EU sizes. The chart is visible on the 'Sizing Guide' page and a link to the chart is displayed in orange text on each of the product's shop pages as seen below.
